Worth knowing
Watch for
Turn 1 sits at the top of a steep climb with a blind apex. The run uphill is a favourite place to pass, and the corner was built wide so drivers can try different lines.
Borrowed bends
The designers took ideas from other tracks. The quick run through Turns 3 to 6 echoes Silverstone, and the top of Turn 1 was inspired by the Senna S at Interlagos.
The beginning
The track opened in 2012, built from scratch for Formula 1. Hermann Tilke drew it with the design firm HKS.
