Worth knowing

  • Watch for

Watch Sainte-Dévote, the first corner. It has seen many first-lap accidents, and the climb out of it is so steep that drivers see only sky.

  • The hairpin

The Fairmont Hairpin is the slowest corner in Formula 1, taken at about 48 km/h. It is so tight that cars need full steering lock.

  • The tunnel

Drivers go from daylight to darkness in the tunnel at about 260 km/h. It often stays dry when the rest of the track is wet.
