Worth knowing
Watch for
Turn 14 is the biggest braking zone of the lap, at the end of a straight about 1.2 km long. It is the main passing spot, and Turn 6 is the next best.
The shape
Seen from above, the layout resembles shang, the first Chinese character in Shanghai's name. Its designers noticed this while drawing the track and developed the idea.
The ground
The site was swampland and rice paddies, so it needed extensive groundwork before the track could be built.
